Professor Carol’s Advent Tradition

Advent2

It has become an Advent tradition here at Professor Carol to fill the season with music, poetry, art, and historical reflections.

For many people, Advent has been swallowed up by Christmas, and Christmas has been swallowed up by commercialism. We run from place to place with a to-do list that just seems to get longer . . . until Christmas Day finally puts an end to the madness. But Christmas is not an end. It’s a beginning.

Free Online Advent Calendar

This is not one of those calendars where you need to get out the scissors and paper and start making things. My calendar is not designed to give you one more thing to do in this busy time, but to help us all remember that Advent is a season of preparation. It is one of our best opportunities to focus on our families and on the beautiful traditions that have been handed to us.

I hope to spark some opportunities for teaching and reflecting on the things that really matter in this season, and I invite you to join me in that effort and to build your own traditions.
